The camargue horse is native to the camargue region in southern France.

This breed is uniformly grey. Foals are born with a dark version of their own colour (black, chestnut, bay, brown), but they quickly shed out to a complete white coat. So far, no horses have been found that are not homozygous for the grey gene.

There are no white patterns in the breed. Several horses have blazes or other markings on the head, but they become nearly invisible when the coat turns white as the horse ages.

The Camargue horse can be found and caught in the European wildlife park.
